Artois Methanisation Project – Graincourt-lès-Havrincourt
In partnership with Veolia and SEDE Environnement, APRO Industrie has manufactured and installed several tanks for the Artois Methanisation waste treatment unit located in Graincourt-lès-Havrincourt, Pas-de-Calais, France.
APRO tanks
The anaerobic digestion facility has been operational since 4 April 2012. Led by APRO Industrie, the project included the construction and insulation of:
- a 1,300 m³ hydrolysis basin
- a 4,350 m³ digester
- a 1,200 m³ post-digester equipped with a double-membrane gas holder
The tanks are made of glass-fused-to-steel panels, ensuring long service life and excellent resistance to corrosion and chemical aggression.
Performance and Capacity
Covering an area of 9,000 m², the facility processes approximately 32,000 tonnes of waste per year. It produces:
- 7,000 tonnes of stabilised digestate annually, used for soil organic amendment in the region
- 8,000 MWh of electricity per year, equivalent to the consumption of around 2,700 households
- 3.5 million m³ of upgraded biogas
- A reduction equivalent to 2,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions
Investment and Environmental Impact
With an investment of €8 million, this project makes a significant contribution to greenhouse gas reduction while promoting sustainable and efficient waste management practices.
